The limited range of the stock bike's 2.5 gallon tank can be fixed with more than one available auxiliary gas tank. Mine has a total capacity of about 4 gallons now. Another mandatory upgrade is the #@*&!X stock seat. I'm using a Corbin with great results. I have also upgraded my rear shock spring and front forks.
Here is a link to the BMW web site and the specifications for the 2014 G650GS which is what I was referring to. Please glance at the useable tank capacity. I'm glad that the earlier models had more usable tank capacity but the 2014 has 3.7 gals according to BMW
